Can you believe the holidays are already here?!? Our Christmas Party is scheduled for Wednesday, December 13th in the Parish Hall at 5:30pm. Please mark your calendars and plan to join. Food and beverages will be provided as well as live music by John Brust! We had a great time last year and are looking forward to another fabulous night of fellowship and fun. Please sign up in the Parish Hall so that we can get a headcount. There will be no charge for the party but any donations will be appreciated!
Christmas Cheer is a program of the Christian Service Center which distributes gifts to children from the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach areas whose families might not be able to provide much for them. It is anticipated that the number of families requesting assistance will be high this year. The goal is to provide three gifts for each registered child, age 16 or younger and a box of food for the family. At Holy Spirit we have an Angel Tree with “angels,” each listing a child, age, sex, and a requested gift. We ask you to select one or more “angels” and purchase the gift. You should not expect to pay more than $30 and many will be less than that. The gifts should not be wrapped, and please attach the “angel” to the gift. If you wish, you may include wrapping paper so that the parent can wrap the gift. Bring your donations to the church as soon as possible but no later than the first week of December. There are always parents who have failed to register and show up at the last minute asking for help, so generic gifts can be used. You may also bring donations of non-perishable items for the holiday food baskets and place them in our little red wagon: cranberry sauce, green peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing mix,……Should you prefer making a cash donation and avoid the shopping, write a check to Holy Spirit and write Christmas Cheer on the “for” line.
Advanced Planning for the 2018 Bishop's Visit and Confirmation.
Many of you are relative newcomers to Holy Spirit and have not yet had the chance to learn about our worship tradition, history or parish background. Our next Confirmation class will be held after the New Year, and we hope many will come and learn what we as Episcopalians and Holy Spirit-ers are all about. Please contact Fr. Jeff or the office if you would like more information
